Abu Dhabi is gearing up for an electrifying UFC Fight Night on August 3, featuring a highly anticipated bout between Cory Sandhagen, the No. 2 ranked bantamweight, and Umar Nurmagomedov, ranked No. 9. This marks the first time Abu Dhabi will host a UFC Fight Night, an event known for giving lesser-known fighters a spotlight, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
The fight card, which promises to be thrilling, was announced today, with tickets set to go on sale on May 7 at 1 pm GST. These can be purchased through etihadarena.ae and ticketmaster.ae. Early access for ticket sales is available for Fight Club members and those who registered their interest early. Additionally, VIP Experience packages are being offered, featuring premium seating, exclusive access to weigh-ins, all-inclusive hospitality, and opportunities for meet-and-greets with UFC athletes.
Cory Sandhagen, fighting out of Aurora, Colorado, returns to the UAE aiming to solidify his position for a title shot in the bantamweight division, boasting victories over notable opponents like Rob Font, Chito Vera, and Frankie Edgar. On the other hand, Umar Nurmagomedov, hailing from Chelyabinsk, Russia, will make his UAE debut at this event. Nurmagomedov remains undefeated and looks to continue his winning streak against a formidable adversary.
The Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, H.E. Saleh Al Geziry, highlighted the significance of hosting the first UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi, stating that it marks a major milestone in their ongoing partnership with the UFC. He expressed enthusiasm for creating memorable moments for MMA fans, similar to the iconic ones from previous Fight Nights.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi is set to host UFC 308 at the Etihad Arena on October 26, which will feature at least one title bout, though the fight card has yet to be announced.
